Who are you behind the mask? The mask that hides the real you and all the stuff you believe you need to hide from your life circle. While your mask may be fabulous and you've spent years perfecting and beautifying it, it's still a mask.
Too many of us have spent a considerable amount of our lives FAKIN’, FOOLIN’ AND FRONTIN’. Some people have gotten to the point where they will hurt themselves to keep the façade intact. Trying so hard to convince other people that they are fine, fabulous or further along in their lives than what’s really going on and causing some to be confused about their true identity.
Speaking from personal experience, this is such an exhausting way of life, but yet we still continue to do it.
After you’ve spent all that time desperately convincing the people in your life circle that you are flawless, what’s next? How do you deal with your reality? Your truth is still there every time you look in the mirror or in your alone time. So, I ask you again, my friend. WHO are you living for? We all have to answer this question at some point in our lives.
Today, I urge you to come from behind the mask. It’s time to start talking about what you’re hiding and why you’re hiding it. The Lord did not create us to live unauthentic lives to please other people.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 tells us that we are to live to please God, not people. What would happen if
we uncomfortably shared what’s really going on in our lives with someone we trust? I encourage you to find out. If you have been hiding behind a mask, take time out today to share your truth with someone you trust. It may feel completely uncomfortable, but it’s far better than the uncomfortable weight of that mask.
If you know someone who is hiding behind a mask, create a trusting environment for them to share their truth with you. Allow them to be vulnerable in your presence without feeling judged. You may just be the person that can help set them free of all that they’ve been carrying around.
