"Have your way, God". When we ask God to have His way, do we really mean it? Think about that for just a minute. I mean really think about those words and the last time you asked God to have His way. When we pray these words we are asking God to take total control over whatever situation we are bringing to him and to do what He wants with it. |
We say we want God to have HIS way and then turn around and put our hands right back on the situation when we don't see the results that WE want to see or the process is far too painful, lengthy or different than what we imagined it would be.
Then there's the other type of prayer. You know what I mean, the prayer where we bring our situations to God with conditions; requesting only the specific things that WE want to happen in the situation. I distinctly remember bringing my painful situations to the Lord asking him to fix it "MY way", too afraid to ask him to fix it HIS way because I knew He would and if I'm being honest, I wasn't quite ready for Him to do it. Sound familiar?
We serve such an incredible God and we know the power that He has in His hands. But, yet we continue to play "Tug Of War" with Him. Our situations aren't changing because HE is not able to do it, they remain the same because WE aren't able to fully let Him do it. Where do you need to let go and let God? What is it that you need to be honest about with Him? When will you remove the conditions and accept what God wants to do with your situation?
I encourage you to examine your prayer about that thing, that situation, that request you keep bringing before the Lord and be honest with yourself. Do you still have your hands on it? Are you really ready to let it go? It may be time to take your hands off of it and trust it in the hands of the Almighty and TRULY let Him HAVE HIS WAY.
Prayer: Father God, you are so amazing. I know the power that you have and that you are able to do exceedingly, abundantly all that we can ask or imagine. Please forgive me for not truly letting you have your way in my current situations. I lay at your feet all of it today and ask that you truly have YOUR way. I take my hands off of it, Lord. I trust you to do what you know is best for me. Have your way in my life and give me peace while you work.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
