Has your phone ever died in the middle of you using it as your GPS? Well, mine did and that was certainly not cute! There I was confidently driving down the highway listening to the sharp tone of the female guide voice and following her every command. No worries, right? Wrong! My phone died beyond car charger level. I mean it was truly dead with no signs of coming back to
To make matters worse, I was in a strange city and didn't have any idea what my next turn was going to be. At that moment I lost all confidence in my Global Positioning System.
I desperately tried to wiggle and jiggle the car charger in hopes that I would get some sort of charge even if it were just for a few minutes, but I was unsuccessful in my attempts. At that moment, I realized that it was just me and the Lord. My first reaction was not pretty and anyone watching probably thought I was just straight crazy! I screamed at the phone, hit the steering wheel a few times and threw the car charger on the floor. I was just DONE! But, I knew I was going to have to make some moves pretty quickly or I would end up in another state if I kept driving blindly. I calmed down and began to pray out loud. I began to take deep breaths and ask God to lead and direct me because I was completely LOST.
God led me to a safe, fully lit location where I could safely get out and charge my phone. Once it gained enough charge to be turned back on, I pulled up the GPS and wrote down the directions. Yep! I used an old fashion pen and paper system. I wasn't about to be caught in that situation again. As I started back down the highway towards my intended destination, I had a moment of reflection. I began to think about how bold and confident I feel when I'm fully trusting God to lead my life and when I'm following His every command like the GPS guide voice. And much like how I felt with the GPS, I don't question the guidance I just follow.
The biggest "Aha" moment was when I thought about how lost and confused I feel when I'm not connected or fully receiving the charge from His amazing glory. When my connection with the Lord is disrupted because of distractions, busy schedules or just life's day to day circumstances, I feel totally scattered, lost and just plain out of sorts. I don't know about y'all, but this girl, doesn't like the experience of being disconnected from my Heavenly GPS - God Positioning System. He keeps me going in the direction I'm supposed to be.
Why is it that we can so easily put trust in a device to lead and guide us, but we struggle to follow the voice of our Heavenly Father? I know several of us have lost our way and are wandering around confused, angry and maybe even emotionally drained. You're not by yourself. It's time to get connected to your God Positioning System to receive the life charge you've been searching for. Here are a few navigation tips to help you get back on your path.
Get Your Keys: It's pretty important to have keys to start your journey. You can't get anywhere without them. You'll need keys to unlock the shackles of fear, brokenness or whatever has bound you in your life. You may want to have key people in your life that will motivate and support you along way. And you may want to find key locations, like a church home or small group that will help you stay encouraged. Encourage yourself by reading a daily devotional. Invest in a Bible that will go the distance with you.
Put your pride away and ask for directions: Don't allow your pride to get in the way of your connection to the Father. Ask Him for guidance. He will not hold it against you. He loves providing directions to those who have lost their way.
Be mindful of your rear view: Whatever you left behind to get to your new life destination, leave it behind you. Be careful not to let your past creep back into the corners of your mind. It will prevent you from moving forward.
Get Regular Maintenance and Tune Ups. We all need to have a boost to our faith every now and then. This is a daily journey and maintaining your prayer life should be a constant routine. Just like keeping oil in the car prevents your engine from burning out. A consistent prayer life will help keep you from burning out and help you through times that life has you in need of repairs.
The guidance that we receive from our Heavenly Father isn't comparable to any other. When you are in sync with your God Positioning System your journey is just that much smoother. I challenge you to examine the direction your headed and ask yourself do you need to re-calculate.
