For years I kept saying that I wish I had a space in my home just for me. I have a beautiful bedroom which I share with my wonderful husband. But it wasn’t a space where I could just be by myself. I looked around the house and realized that everyone had their own personal space, but me. The boys have their own separate rooms and a TV/Play room and my hubby has his “man cave”, where he goes to relax and unwind.
After I pondered on this reality, I became determined to find a space just for me. I started with trying to make a corner in my room, but that didn't work. I started creating living spaces outside on my deck, but the change in Georgia's weather conditions would often send me back in the house. I would sit in my bed to write and read, but that usually ended up with me watching TV or falling asleep.
Well, it was time to reclaim some of this space. And so the "Diva Den" was born! I made an announcement to the men in my household that from now on the TV/Playroom was now Mommy's "Diva Den" and the boys would no longer have open access to this room. To my surprise, they got onboard fairly quickly. For my 41st birthday, my amazing family transformed this space from a toy-filled, catch-all room into my beautiful "Diva Den". This is my space where I get into the presence of God, write, dance, sing, nap and paint my toes! It's a space just for ME!
Some of you may have your very own "Diva Den", while some of you have a sacred corner somewhere in your home. Whatever it is, use it to nurture your relationship with God, recharge your battery and refresh your mind, body and soul. If you don't have a space at all, I encourage you to find one for
yourself. It doesn't have to be fancy. It just has to be YOURS!
