Sometimes we just need to be reminded about the Amazing Creator that we serve. I came across this quote and it literally made me pause for a minute. It read “She stood in the storm and when the wind did not blow her away, she adjusted her sails.” This is so powerful! The first thing I noticed when reading this quote were the words "SHE STOOD" in the storm.
Think about that for just a minute. I want you to close your eyes and think about what a storm feels and sounds like. Can you hear the strong, howling wind blowing? Can you feel the scattered debris from the ground hitting against your skin? Can you hear the loud crackling thunder? Can you visualize the darkness of the sky and the flash of the lightning? Ok…open your eyes. I don’t know about you, but a storm like that might just send me running for cover.
When the weather outside turns into a storm, sirens go off and the news stations flash urgent messages all across the T.V. channels warning us to take cover or find shelter. If we equate this to how we react to a storm that has hit our lives, we could probably say many of us react in much of the same manner. When the twists and turns of a dark situation threatens our safe comfort zone, we might find ourselves running as fast as we can to get away from it.
My friend, if we’re honest, sometimes we just need to be reminded. Some of us have faced some pretty large and tumultuous storms that caught us off guard. Sometimes we just need someone to come along and say “Stand up…it’s almost over”. Sometimes we just need to “adjust our sails” so we can continue to stand.
So, when I saw this quote and it started with “She stood in the storm…”, it made me pause. It takes courage and confidence to stand up in something that has the potential to knock us down and harm us. And it takes a whole lot of strength to battle the winds of trials that we didn’t see coming. But GOD! The woman in this quote STOOD UP in the storm because she knew the God she served was bigger than the storm that was raging. She knew that God was her rock, her fortress and her deliverer!
Stand up, my friend. You can conquer this storm because our masterful Creator has equipped you with everything you need to withstand it.
Psalm 18:2 - The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the person who is reading this today and is looking for courage, confidence and strength to stand in the storm they are facing. Father, thank you for reminding us that you are the anchor that allows us to stand up and not be moved in this storm. Thank you for being our rock and our shield. As we go through these storms, would you please allow us to lift our heads to see the mighty work that you are doing on our behalf and to recognize that we are not in this by ourselves. Help us to adjust our sails and to continue to move forward even when find ourselves right in the eye of the storm. You are miraculous and we love you. We thank you and give you all the glory and honor. Amen.
