This blog post topic has been on my mind for quite some time. I asked the Lord to please help me write this for someone who might be having an internal battle with themselves. If we’re honest, we have all been at this point a time or two in our lives. If you can relate, this is for you.
While Jesus warned us that “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10), it seems to me that some of us are assisting in that process. Far too much credit and recognition is being given to the “enemy”, when sometimes the enemy is really you.
Is this the work of the enemy or could this just be our “inner me” at work?
Admittedly, I too have times where I have to shut down the dirty talk of the “inner me” to get to what God has waiting for me. You know what I mean - the feelings of doubt, fear, guilt or shame that play in your mind and hold you captive to your comfort zone. Some of us have had the “inner me” recording on repeat for so long that we don’t know how to turn it off. In fact, some of us may have become so accustomed to it playing so loud that we can’t hear the sound of positive affirmations being poured into our spirits by a kind soul.
Well, it’s not only time to turn off that played out tune that your “inner me” is singing, but it’s time to destroy it and start playing a new one. It’s going to take some work on your part to silence the dirty talk of your “inner me”. Let me help you get started with these 3 simple points.
- See It –What do you deserve? Who do you think you are? What has God called you to do? What do you like about yourself? You have to see it for yourself first.
- Say It – Declare it out loud. You have silently told yourself you’re not good enough, you’re not worth it or you can’t do it. It’s time to reverse that language and say out loud what you are worth and what you deserve.
- Seek It – This is where your thoughts and your words meet your actions. It’s time to seek out what you have seen and said. Get outside of your head and go get what God has in store for you. What action steps do you need to take? What connections do you need to make?
My prayer for you is that you will make bold intentional moves today to change your thinking. I pray that you will embrace your “inner me” and feed yourself positive affirmations. You are so much more than you think you are!
