From the heart and mind of one wife to another
My family and I LOVE to play games. Some of our favorites include Monopoly, Sorry, Clue and various card and video games. The thrill of the win and the strategy of out smarting your opponent is what keeps the Parker family playing game after game, sometimes into the late hours of the night. After each game, the winning team is afforded the privilege to execute their victory dance to the previously selected song of choice, while the “not-so-winning” team is forced to watch. Oh yeah…it gets REAL in the Parker household!
Apparently, my husband recognized the same thing because we later discussed what was happening to our game strategy. I recognized that I was questioning my husband’s decisions as opposed to supporting them and we both cared more about being the “one” who carried the team to victory than actually being the victorious team.
I believe the Lord's master game plan for marriage is all about teamwork - working together to become a strong, impenetrable team. It truly is a testament to how well you work together to accomplish triumphs and overcome trials. As Mr. Parker’s wife of 20 years, I can tell you that learning to follow your husband’s lead is crucial to the success of your marriage. While I know my husband values my opinion and looks to me to take the lead in certain areas of our household, it’s my role to ensure that he feels respected and supported as the captain of our team.
So, it's safe to say that hubby and I have brushed up on our teamwork skills and continue to work on perfecting our game.
