Fail…failing…failure. No matter how you say it, nobody wants to associate themselves with this word. We’ve been taught at an early age that failure should be avoided. So, from our childhood to adulthood, we've spent a considerable amount of time trying to avoid failing.
Let’s face it, nobody ever wakes up and says, “Today feels like the perfect day to fail!” Right?
So, what can you do to face the fear of failure and move forward? These are some tips that I have incorporated into my life that I thought I would share with you.
1.Free Your Mind – Don’t believe everything you think! If you react to all of the thoughts you have about failing, you will be held captive by them.
2.Failure is TEMPORARY – It may feel permanent, but it’s not. It’s a moment in time. It will build your character and make you more resilient. Learn from it. What lessons did you learn that will help you be more successful as you move forward?
3.Feel the Fear and Follow Your Passion – I still feel afraid when I move outside of my comfort zone and try something new. But, how I handle that fear today is different. I’ve tried things this year that scared me and had the potential to fail. In fact, some of them did fail! Instead of allowing that fear to fester, I used it to teach others what “not” to do. Follow your passion in the face of fear of failure or you will have regrets. You’ll never know the end of the true story of you don’t.
