Last night, while in a deep slumber, the Lord placed in my spirit these two questions: “Why me?” and “Why NOT you?” As I tossed and turned and tried to remain sleep, I couldn’t stop hearing those questions. So, I literally had to get out of my bed and write them down in my notebook. As I was writing, I couldn’t help but wonder what God was going to do with this message.
When I woke up this morning I sat still and silent in my Diva Den so that I could receive my next set of instructions for this message. I pray that this post reaches those it was truly intended to reach.
In no way am I discounting the trials and tribulations that many of us have gone through and, in some cases, are still going through. I truly believe this is a thought provoking question that deserves our attention. Why not you or me? It’s my belief that God allows us to go and grow through specific events in our lives to build us up to do the work that He has planned for us. He builds our character, our resilience and our testimony of His greatness all throughout our trials.
When I’ve asked God to expand my territory or to place me in positions that He would have me go, you best believe it came with some intense character building time. I realized that God needed me to be ready for the blessing that He was about to pour out on me. I had to experience a few things that would stretch me and test my ability to handle challenges. I had to strengthen my weak areas in order to avoid the pitfalls the enemy had planned for me. The Lord needed me to pass specific tests in order for him to elevate me to the next level in my life.
So, Why me? My answer, Why NOT me? I’ve come to this conclusion. We serve a God, a Creator, a Masterful Almighty that loves us enough to prepare us in the storms of our lives with the intent to bring us to the next level of our lives.
At the end of it all, when I’ve made it through my “You’ve got to be kidding me” seasons, and I see the hand of our loving Father, my question has turned from “Why me?” to the jaw-dropping, awe struck question, “YOU DID THIS FOR ME?”
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light”
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
